Often dismissed as purely a full-sized luxury saloon, Bentley‘s flagship Mulsanne gets a welcome performance update with the introduction of the new Mulsanne Speed for 2015. One of the most powerful sedans around, the reworked Mulsanne now boasts 530 horsepower — 25 more than its predecessor — while its 6.75-liter twin-turbo V8 has been tweaked to offer a whopping 811 pound-feet of torque at rotation frequencies as low as 1,750 rpm. As Autoblog points out, this effectively makes Bentley’s Le Mans-inspired vehicle more powerful than every “muscle” car on the market and even eclipses that of most million-dollar “hypercars.” The result is a massive, yet agile sedan that can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds before hitting a top speed of about 190 mph. Additional features include everything from a re-calibrated eight-speed automatic transmission, improved combustion, a cylinder deactivation system, and an updated adjustable air suspension to aesthetic improvements like tinted grilles and lights, 21-inch wheels, a two-tone leather interior, and Mulliner Driving Specification. The new Mulsanne Speed will make its public debut at next month’s Paris Motor Show before being available from Bentley this winter. check it out
